Une connection dans laquelle l\u2019animal passe avant l\u2019humain. Les moyens v\u00e9t\u00e9rinaires sur la course sont d\u2019ailleurs bien d\u00e9velopp\u00e9s. Il y a 10 v\u00e9t\u00e9rinaires et 2 \u00e9tudiants v\u00e9t\u00e9rinaires pr\u00e9sents tout au long de la course. Ils veillent au bien \u00eatre animal qui est la valeur principale de La Grande odyss\u00e9e. Leurs mission consistent aux contr\u00f4les r\u00e9glementaires d\u2019avant course mais \u00e9galement \u00e0 effectuer un examen clinique complet de chaque chien pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 au d\u00e9part de la course. Ils seront pr\u00e9sents tout au long de la course pour surveiller l\u2019\u00e9tat de sant\u00e9 des chiens et intervenir en cas d\u2019urgence. Chacune des 10 \u00e9tapes dure en moyenne 30km. <\/p>\n<p>Dans La Grande Odys\u00e9e, les hommes et les femmes sont engag\u00e9s dans la m\u00eame course pour le m\u00eame classement. <\/p>\n<p>Il existe deux cat\u00e9gories au d\u00e9part de la course : <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Open : Pool de 12 chiens avec 6 \u00e0 10 chiens au d\u00e9part<\/li>\n<li>Limited : Pool de 8 chiens avec 5 \u00e0 6 chiens au d\u00e9part <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On retrouve deux typologies de chiens sur les courses de traineaux: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Les chiens de type Alaskans Husky \/ Malamutes, peu rapides mais tr\u00e8s endurants<\/li>\n<li>Les chiens de type chasse, Scandinavian hounds, tr\u00e8s rapides mais peu endurants<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Pour les chiens de type chasse, les mushers veilleront \u00e0 les tenir au chaud une fois la course fini car avec le poil court ils peuvent rapidement attraper froid. <\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ag-photo.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/AGP_0834-WEB-HD-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\u2014 photo Alexandre Gendron\" loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption>Malamutes<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ag-photo.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/AGP_0585-WEB-HD-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\u2014 photo Alexandre Gendron\" loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption>Scandinavian hounds<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ag-photo.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/AGP_0678-WEB-HD-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\u2014 photo Alexandre Gendron\" loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption>Alaskans Husky<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>Musher, une passion<\/h2>\n<p>Sur cette derni\u00e8re \u00e9tape de La Grande Odyss\u00e9e, les mushers et les chiens devaient dormir en tente au Mont-Cenis. C\u2019\u00e9tait super int\u00e9ressant de voir que d\u00e9s l\u2019arriv\u00e9e, les mushers s\u2019occupent de leurs chiens en premier lieu. Les liens entre les mushers et leurs chiens sont vraiment fort et \u00e7a se voit. <\/p>\n<p>En parlant de R\u00e9my, Meilleur Ouvrier de France en boulangerie en 2000, et \u00e0 la t\u00eate de 7 magasins dans la r\u00e9gion de Meg\u00e8ve d\u00e9cide de tout quitter en 2008 apr\u00e8s avoir d\u00e9couvert l\u2019univers du mushing pendant un s\u00e9jour au Canada. Il deveint alors accompagnateur en montagne et musher.
