My story

Alexandre Gendron

Independent photographer, writer and adventurer. Based in Annecy, on assignment all over the world.

For seven years, I was a project manager, at Thales and then at Humanis. In 2013, I quit and left for Australia, where I photographed the dancers of the Byron Ballet. In New Zealand, I then worked for the Wanaka tourism board and wrote for Adventure Magazine.

In 2016, I headed back towards Europe by bike and by hitching rides on sailboats: 14,000 km of cycling and 8,000 km of sailing, all the way to Vietnam. A journey that changed the way I photograph and tell stories.

Since 2019, I have been based in Annecy, working independently and directly with my clients: luxury real estate, hospitality, brands and businesses, magazines and the travel industry, all over the world. I also organise tailor-made photo trips on request.

2016 — 2018

From New Zealand to Vietnam, by bike and by boat-hitching

In March 2016, I left Wanaka with a simple idea: get back to France without flying, using as few engines as possible. I cycled across deserts, hitched rides on sailboats to cross the oceans, and worked on the road, sometimes far from any network.

Supported by several outdoor brands, I documented the adventure in pictures and words, on my blog and social media. Once in Vietnam, I put the bike down for eight months and trained as a yoga teacher.
